Success at NASA for Queensland Academies Partnership School, Corinda State High School

Corinda State High School runners-up at NASA International Space Settlement Design Competition

Queensland Academies would like to congratulate one of our Queensland Academies Partnership Schools, Corinda State High School, and their students Jakub Blahout, Jaiden Jack, Connor Roberts and Dhruv Singh for being awarded the Runners-Up Award at the annual NASA International Space Settlement Design Competition.

These four students were invited to join the Australian team in competing with students from all over the world at NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in America. Over the four-day competition, they designed a terraforming space settlement for the planet Mars with direction from NASA and Boeing Engineers as well as other leading space companies — a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Very excited to congratulate one of our Queensland Academies Health Sciences campus students, Amy Zhou, who was a recent recipient of the 2016 Peter Doherty Awards for Excellence in STEM Education — Outstanding Senior STEM Student Award.

Amy was one of only nine Australian students chosen to go to India for the 10th Asian Science Camp. While at this camp, Amy made an appearance on ABC Gold Coast Radio where she advocated and encouraged girls to study STEM subjects in secondary school. Listen to her interview here.
