Congratulations to all of our Young Einstein Club members who met for the third time on Tuesday evening this week. This club is an initiative of the Queensland Academies as a strategy to support the needs of highly gifted and exceptional students and to enable them to reach their intellectual and creative potential.
The program is open to students in Years 3 – 5 who have been formally assessed with IQs of 140 or above.
The students interact with other like-minded peers who share interests and undertake challenging and independent project-based tasks in their selected areas of excellence and passion. Some of the emerging projects include the development of a novel and movie trailer, the history of board games, the development of a three dimensional periodic table and the development of solar powered water bubblers in a primary school. The students receive one-on-one support from Queensland Academies student mentors in Years 10 – 12.
We are looking forward to their final showcase as part of a student-led exhibition for students, parents and other members of the Queensland Academies community.
