Even though the school year is drawing to a close, students from all three Queensland Academies campuses have still been busy with activities.
The Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology entered two teams of year 10 – 12 students in the First Tech Challenge State championships held on Saturday 3rd November, at Grace Lutheran College. The team dubbed Team Entangled not only captained but won with an alliance with Ipswich Grammar Schools’ team. In addition to winning every match on the day and captaining the winning alliance, they were also awarded the Motivate Award for showing respect and Gracious Professionalism. Click here to read more
Queensland Academies Creative Industries campus is hosting an upcoming theatre performance, running from the 6th to the 8th December. Originally based on the book trilogy by Cornelia Funke, Inkheart is a screenplay by David Lindsay-Abaire that the QACI Year 10 Theatre Ensemble has adapted into a stage production. Money raised from the ticket sales will help raise money for the organisation Beyond Blue, with proceeds going towards further research and support for teenagers with mental health issues. On Saturday 20th October, Students from the Gold Coast Brilliant Futures program embarked on an excursion to the University of Queensland (UQ), St Lucia campus for a jam packed day full of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) workshops. The day was filled with three different STEM workshops encompassing aspects of developing skills in scientific investigations by inquiry learning, critical thinking and collaborative group work.
