It has been a busy start to Term 3 and we can’t believe it’s Week 3 already! Students from all three campuses have demonstrated many IB learner profile attributes in a range of different activities.
Queensland Academies Health Sciences Campus had six students and two teachers represent QAHS and Australia at the 2019 Asia-Pacific Forum for Science Talented in the July school holidays. The forum was held from 6-11 July and organized by National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan. The Australian Delegation was led by distinguished teachers, Mr Lal and Ms Cheng, and included Year 12 students George Tian and Meyrick Fisher, as well as Year 11 students Angie Zhou, Maggie Chi, Sara Alaei and Callum Janetzki. Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology 2014 graduate Clint Therakam recently graduated from UQ with a degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Clint has received an offer of full time employment working for UNSW Canberra Space at the Australian National Concurrent Design Facility (ANCDF) where he spent time working on a space mission project during his degree. Queensland Academies Creative Industries Campus is holding their International Baccalaureate Music Class of 2019 Music Composition Showcase on Friday 9th August, 6:30pm. Composition forms a major component of the IB Music Program. During their study, music students aim to develop creative skills through exploration, control and the development of musical elements.
