Maths Problem Solving – Numbers beyond a million and tricks with numbers! GOLD COAST (Years 3-4)
Mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills develop through exposure, experience and engagement. Students will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with their peers; developing rich mathematical thinking skills as they justify, explain, explore and convince others of the processes and solutions to problems.
This workshop specifically focusses on working with and understanding, large numbers. Students will also explore number tricks that rely on patterning.
Location: Queensland Academies, Health Sciences Campus (102 Edmund Rice Drive, Southport)

Time: 9.30 am – 11.00 am
Students are required to wear comfortable clothes, enclosed shoes, with hair tied back, and bring a drink. All other materials are supplied.
This workshop seeks to:
- explicitly explore the concept of function
- strengthen independence skills
- provide students with the opportunity to develop thinking skills including those associated with metacognition.
