Queensland Academies students are involved in a number of exciting upcoming events.
Queensland Academies Health Sciences campus (QAHS) has 2 teams who are participating in the Gold Coast 96km Kokoda challenge. With only 7 weeks to go, the two QAHS teams have been enjoying their recent long training hikes. Tackling 24km around waterfall circuit on 11 May and 28km in the Nerang National Park on 25 May 2019, the teams are feeling confident and can't wait to take on the full 96km challenge around the hinterland, accompanied by Ms Hart and Mr Emery.
Ewan Beach from the Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology has successfully applied to attend this year's QUT STEM Camp in the September school holidays. QUT STEM Camp provides high-achieving Year 11 students with the opportunity to engage in a 5-day research project with QUT researchers and like-minded students from across the state, and also induction into the QUT STEM scholars program, which provides students with ongoing STEM engagement.
Queensland Academies Creative Industries campus (QACI) Year 11 Theatre ensemble presents Aufstand: Four Brechtian Plays, One Hour. This includes 4 plays steaming with political unrest and moral questioning by German playwright Bertolt Brecht, condensed to 15 minutes each and remodelled to the zeitgeist.
