Thanks, Alisha, for your answer. You are spot on! The bullet train does enable large numbers of people to move quickly to locations across Japan. They are extremely punctual so people can rely on them to be on time.

The Shinkansen is called the bullet train because it is really fast and can travel up to 320 kilometers per hour.

The bullet train can travel so fast because of the shape and weight of it – the shape of the front of the bullet train is pointy which makes it easy to cut through air, like a bullet.

If the Shinkansen had not been invented many people in Japan would be stuck waiting for normal slow trains which would mean that not as many people would be able to travel long distances quickly.

You are right – this is a real problem for our sea creatures often causing death. The world needs caring people like you to find ways to solve these problems.
