- William was the 2014 recipient of the Australian Defence Force Award for Leadership and Teamwork and the Griffith University Griffith Connect Academic Excellence Bursary.
- He was recognised for his academic excellence receiving a Gold Award (2012, 2013 and 2014), an IB Learner Award (2012, 2013 and 2014), and an Exceptional Achievement Award (2014), for the national CSIRO Gold CREST Award recognition of his scientific research work.
- He has also completed the Griffith University Biology Course, an integrated university course undertaken at the same time as the rigorous IB Diploma Programme, which grants ten credit points and one bonus rank point when applying for entry into Griffith University’s undergraduate degree programs.
- William should be commended on his results in many academic competitions, including the Australian Mathematics Competition (2014, 2013, 2012 Credits), the Australian National Chemistry Quiz (2014, 2013, 2012 Credits), the ICAS Science Competition (2013 High Distinction), the CSIRO CREST Awards (2014 Gold Award; 2013 Bronze Award), the Gold Coast Science Competition (2014 1st Place Prize – Environmental Action Project Category), the STAQ Science Competition (2014 3rd Place Prize – Environmental Action Project Category), the ICAS English Competition (2012 Credit) and the Big Science Competition (2012 Credit). William’s outstanding research work has also been nominated successfully for the BHP Billiton Science and Engineering Awards 2014 (results pending).
