Teaching Positions for 2019

Due to significant enrolment growth and expansion of subject offerings across all three campuses - Queensland Academies are offering a range of exciting opportunities for outstanding teachers wishing to teach in the state’s highest performing senior secondary schools in 2019.

Queensland Academies offer a specialised three year enriched senior secondary education program (Yr 10 to Yr 12) that includes the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and enrichment experiences through collaborative arrangements with university (UQ, QUT & GU) and industry partners.

The Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology also offers the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and will introduce Year 7 students in 2019.

Head of Department: Contemporary Teaching and Learning

Queensland Academies Health Sciences Campus is seeking applicants for the Head of Department:  (Curriculum) Contemporary Teaching and Learning

Queensland Academy for Health Sciences (QAHS) offers highly capable students in Years 10 to 12 the opportunity to study in the world class International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. QAHS has state-of-the-art facilities and a student cohort who are connected to the world, focussed on the future and committed to service.  Our exemplary staff are selected for their expertise and commitment to working in close partnership with each other, parents and industry partners to ensure each student achieves to their potential.

As the full time Head of Contemporary Teaching & Learning you will focus on curriculum leadership – participating in delivering the vision of the Department of Education and developing the quality of teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders. You will develop and lead a plan that addresses, extends and celebrates “Effective Teaching Practice” and strategically implement activities and opportunities for staff to engage in recognised deficits/needs noted through Collegial Engagement. You will play a vital role in coaching and mentoring staff for Performance Development Plans, shape the delivery of Theory of Knowledge (TOK) through your leadership of the key accountabilities for the TOK Coordinator position, and line manage the Learning Management System Coordinator who manages the school’s electronic learning platform. You will also have line management responsibilities for the Academy’s Brilliant Futures Gold Coast Program, an outreach enrichment program in STEM learning for students in Years 7 to 9. This dynamic role will also see you develop and lead various publications and accountabilities in relation to key budget responsibilities.

About the Role

The Head of Contemporary Teaching & Learning is accountable to and under the direction of the school Principal or delegate.

In addition to the above, you will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Lead the school faculty to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Model and set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school faculty to achieve goals.

Queensland Academy Creative Industries Campus (QACI) is seeking applicants for the Head of Department to lead our English and IB Group 3 (Business and Psychology) faculties.  We are an academically selective entry, co-educational, state governed high school, offering exclusively the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to students in Years 10 - 12.

QACI is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and is proud to uphold the values of an IB education. QACI currently offers the IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) as its core curriculum in Years 11 and 12. The IB DP is a demanding pre-university course of study assessed by external examinations. It has earned a reputation for rigorous learning and assessment, and as such gives IB DP holders access to the world's leading universities. QACI is partnered with the Queensland University of Technology.
