Putting STEAM into STEM
Critical thinking questions from the Smithsonian Institute
As part of her 2015 Fellowship at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, Dr Kathy Mackey, Manager of the Queensland Academies, will be posting a series of critical thinking challenges designed the inspire the minds of students in Year 5 – 9. These challenges will draw from the vast array of resources available in the collections of the many museums within the Smithsonian.
These questions will focus on topics that we associate with the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), but will also include a focus on the Arts and creativity as a way of broadening STEM thinking into STEAM thinking.
