Playing games is not only fun but provides food for the brain! Games encourage us to analyse situations, evaluate the effectiveness of our actions and strategies, and enables us to create new strategies based on these evaluations. Students will learn to play traditional capture, blocking and alignment games from other cultures including Mancala (Africa), Go Moku and Hasami Shogi (Japan), Sliders (Korea), Fox and Hounds (England), and Mu-Torere (Maori).
Students will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with their peers as they play against, and with, each other.
Location: Queensland Academies, Science, Mathematics and Technology campus (78 Bywong Street, Toowong)

Time: 4.00 – 5.30 pm
Students are required to wear comfortable clothes, enclosed shoes, with hair tied back, and bring a drink. All other materials are supplied.
This workshop seeks to:
- explicitly explore the concept of reflection
- strengthen confidence skills
- provide students with the opportunity to develop communication skills including those associated with speaking.
