QASMT STEM Scholars Program

The QASMT STEM Scholars Program invites primary schools within the connected school network to nominate high-achieving and Highly Capable students in Years 3–6 to participate. Based on school recommendations aligned with specified selection criteria, individual students may join the program and attend after-school workshops.
- Students register for workshops directly through the Queensland Academies office.
- A one-off registration fee will be charged per student to join the QASMT STEM Scholars Program.
After-School Workshops
Through the QASMT STEM Scholars Program, members can access workshops that are academically rigorous and require students to apply disciplined reasoning and communication skills to develop deep understanding. Face-to-face workshops are held on Thursday afternoons, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. These workshops have a STEM focus and operate on a user-pays basis, coordinated through QASMT.
- QASMT senior teachers deliver four workshops per term, which are repeated each term.
- Partnership with the QVA (Queensland Virtual Academy)
- Other external STEM providers, supervised by QASMT teachers, also deliver STEM-focused programs.
Celebration Afternoon
New members who have participated in the program are invited to attend the annual QASMT STEM Scholars Celebration Afternoon, held during QASMT's National Science Week. During this event, students are symbolically presented with a QASMT STEM Scholars badge and Certificate of Membership. This celebration acknowledges student achievements alongside their families and the broader QASMT school community.
Students will also be invited to attend National Science Week presentations and the Colloquium. Academy tours will be available for families interested in applying to QASMT.
