QASMT Young Einsteins Program

​The QASMT Young Einstein Program is an initiative designed to support the needs of highly gifted and exceptional students. It aims to further nurture the unique abilities of this identified group, enabling them to reach their intellectual and creative potential. The program is open to students in Years 3–6 who have been formally assessed with IQs of 140 or above.

The QASMT Young Einstein group meets after school at QASMT at specified times throughout the year.

Students are provided with the opportunity to:

  • Interact with like-minded peers who share similar interests and mindsets;
  • Undertake challenging, independent, STEM project-based learning activities;
  • Receive support from QASMT Student Mentors;
  • Listen to and engage with presentations from senior QASMT students who have prepared research for national and international science networks;
  • Develop a critical stance in their work while learning from others' perspectives;
  • Showcase and communicate their projects as part of a student-led exhibition for students, parents, invited guests, and members of the QASMT community.

Celebration Afternoon

Students who have participated in the program are invited to attend the annual QASMT Young Einstein and their Mentors Celebration Afternoon, held during QASMT's National Science Week. During this event, students are presented with a QASMT Young Einstein badge and Certificate of Membership. This celebration acknowledges student achievements alongside their families and the broader QASMT school community.

  • Students will also be invited to present their research project at the QASMT National Science Week Presentation.
  • Two students will be invited to present at the QASMT National Science Week Colloquium.
  • Academy tours will be available for families interested in applying to QASMT.
