Alumni stories and student profiles from Queensland Academies Creative Industries Campus (QACI), Queensland Academies Health Sciences Campus (QAHS) and Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology (QASMT).

Celeste Burke

Celeste Burke'My experience at QACI has contributed significantly to where I am today—my passion for business (and marketing) stemmed from studying Business at QACI, and doing my Extended Essay in Business, and a lot of my creative and design skills that I use every day stemmed from what I learned in Visual Art (Design). QACI also taught me the value of hard work and to always be pushing yourself and challenging yourself in everything that you do.'

Vidvi Malik

Vivid Malik'My experience at QASMT has taught me that with time and effort come deserving rewards. The excellent learning opportunities at the school have equipped me with the knowledge and exposure to succeed in my university studies. In particular, I was able to foster my passion for science, which has placed me one step ahead in my current academic pursuits. Additionally, I was able to immerse myself in intriguing subjects such as business and French. From developing my work ethic to engaging in volunteering opportunities, the brilliant atmosphere at QASMT has benefited me for life.'

Mateuse Pingol

Mateuse Pingol'I'm employed at the Nine Network as a Writer/Researcher for an upcoming 2018 Children's TV show. I have previously worked at Network Ten as a Post Production Coordinator, Offline Editor and Props Master, and as a Digital Media Video Producer/Editor at QUT. QACI helped me to become a better inquirer and a communicator by improving my global awareness through learning a language and sharing experiences with other IB students worldwide. QACI also encouraged me to embrace my creativity and seek new ways to communicate in Film and TV—an industry that is vastly changing due to digital technology but, in turn, opening up so many opportunities for young people.'

Clint Therakam

Clint Therakam'The rigour of the IB diploma has taught me the importance of not just studying hard but also studying smart by using targeted learning. Hence, QASMT helped me build a strong academic skill set (especially with higher level maths and physics)—critical for my Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Academics aside, my significant involvement in leadership roles such as the Director of Science Ambassadors and the Alumni Tutoring Coordinator has really refined my soft skills. These communication and leadership skills have led to engineering industry experience in Japan and an aerospace internship position.'
