Students may reapply for the chosen Academy if they:

  • believe their previous test performance and reports did not accurately reflect their ability, and
  • are confident of having a stronger case to put forward, and
  • have carefully researched the Academy they wish to reapply to, and are committed to that Academy, and
  • have read 'Students who intend to reapply must know' (below), and
  • meet all of the Reapplication - General Conditions (below), and
  • meet all of the Reapplication - Specific Conditions relevant to your circumstances (below).

Students who intend to reapply must know:

  •  At the conclusion of an On-time applications process, all places available for a given cohort at an Academy, may have been offered.  Some candidates may have been notified that they will be considered further and may be in a merit pool.
  • A highly capable student with a record of strong academic performance (in academic reports, in NAPLAN where available and in the Entrance Test), who is eligible to reapply, may do so and be considered for available vacancies (where applicable, in a merit pool).
  • While under consideration (including in a merit pool), the Queensland Academies Admissions Office will prompt candidates to provide updated academic evidence (reports and NAPLAN) as they are released.
  • Candidates with complete applications will be considered for all suitable vacancies that arise for that cohort.

Vacancies

A vacancy may arise: where not every place into that cohort has been offered at the conclusion of the On-time applications process; where a successful candidate is unable to accept their offer; due to normal student movement (eg family relocation); or where the number of places in a cohort is increased in response to whole-school enrolment planning.  Queensland Academies cannot pre-determine when, or how many, vacancies may become available during the late applications/merit pool period for a given intake.  While vacancies may be limited, and there is no guarantee that a future vacancy will arise, it is worth noting that at all previous entry points, a number of vacancies have been considered and highly capable applicants have been offered enrolment.

If you reapply, any initial application that is under consideration will be cancelled, and any offer made, will be withdrawn.

If you have an application under consideration, or an offer to an Academy, and you wish to reapply, you must email admissions@qa.eq.edu.au, and inform Queensland Academies - Admissions that you wish to cancel your initial application and decline any offer, before you are considered eligible to reapply.

If you have an application under consideration, or an offer to an Academy, and you reapply, without having first informed Queensland Academies - Admissions that you wish to cancel your initial application and decline any offer, the Queensland Academies Admissions Manager will liaise with the relevant Principal/s and make a decision to cancel one or both applications.

Re-application - General Conditions:

You can only reapply where you meet all of these General Conditions:

1  You can have only one application under consideration at any given time for a given Year 10 cohort.

2  You can only reapply once for enrolment into a given Year 10 cohort at Queensland Academies.

3  To reapply, you must submit a new application (your second application or 'reapplication'). Your initial application cannot be reconsidered by the same Academy, or be considered by another Academy.  You must resit the Entrance test, and re-interview (where applicable).  Where updated academic reports and NAPLAN have been issued, these must be included.

4  You can only resit the Entrance test once for a given Year 10 cohort.  You cannot resit the Entrance Test during the same semester as when you sat the Entrance Test for your initial application (including where results were/will be transferred by the Test provider through a Transfer of results process).

5  You can only reapply where your Chosen Academy is still accepting applications for that given Year 10 cohort, and where an opportunity to sit an Entrance test is still available.

6  If you are seeking to change your Chosen Academy and a) you have not yet sat the Entrance test or attended an interview, or b) reapplication is no longer possible due to application close dates or test dates, refer to our policy "Change to Chosen Academy prior to Commencement".

7  You cannot request Inter-Academy transfer after commencement to another Academy, if you have previously had an unsuccessful application to that Academy, for that given Year 10 cohort.

8  You cannot submit a third application for a given Year 10 cohort.

9  International students (subclass 500 school sector visa holders): must seek advice from Queensland Academies - Admissions before reapplying. You may not be eligible to reapply, due to processing times.

In addition to the General Conditions above, before you reapply, you must also meet all of the Specific Conditions relevant to your circumstances:

Reapplication - Specific Conditions:

If you have an unsuccessful outcome on your initial application:

10  You may reapply if:

a. you meet all of General Conditions 1-9 above, and

b. you believe that your previous application (test performance, reports and/or interview) did not accurately reflect your ability, and you are confident of having a stronger case to put forward.

If you have a successful outcome (received an Offer) on your initial application:

11  You cannot have an offer of enrolment and also apply to another Academy for the same Year 10 cohort.

This condition applies: where you have received an offer and you have not yet responded to it; where you have accepted an offer; and regardless of whether or not you have paid school acceptance fees, enrolment fees, and/or completed required enrolment documentation.

12  If you decline an offer made on an application, or your offer is withdrawn or cancelled by Queensland Academies, you no longer have an Offer.  The application associated with your declined/withdrawn/cancelled offer outcome, is still considered to have been an application you have submitted and Conditions 1-9 around Reapplication (above) still apply. Reapplication to the same Academy is not permitted.

13  Offers are not transferable between Queensland Academies.  All applications received by an Academy are considered on merit and relative suitability for that cohort at that Academy.

If you have an application to Queensland Academies that is under consideration or in a merit pool:

14  You cannot reapply for a given cohort while you have an application under consideration or in a merit pool for that cohort, at the same or another Academy.

15  Application stage and status are not transferable between applications:

a. If you withdraw an application where you had been scheduled to sit a future Entrance test, and you reapply: Entrance Test registration for your withdrawn application will be cancelled.  Entrance test registration for your reapplication will be required.

b. If you withdraw an application where you had been shortlisted for interview, and reapply: the interview invitation for your withdrawn application will be cancelled.

c. If you withdraw an application that was under consideration in a merit pool, and reapply: the merit pool status of your withdrawn application will be cancelled.

If you have an application to Queensland Academies that is on hold:

16  You cannot reapply while you have an application on hold, for any Queensland Academies cohort. Contact Queensland Academies – Admissions for assistance.

If you have an application that has been withdrawn, or is cancelled:

17  If you withdraw an application at any stage (before or after outcome), do not respond to an offer and it is withdrawn by the Academy, or your application is cancelled by Queensland Academies, that application is still considered to be an application you have submitted, and Conditions 1-9 around reapplication still apply.

Students seeking to reapply should do so at the earliest possible opportunity.
